THE HOUSE OF
BUTTERFLIES
19-01-2016
The processionary, a lepidopteran that primarily affects pine trees and is well known for the rows or “processions” it forms on the ground and the nests hanging from tree branches, is reaching this season in Catalonia its largest expansion in possibly the last two decades. This is due to the very mild temperatures of recent autumns, which are a critical period in the development of the caterpillars.
