Some species are threatened by changes in habitats
The butterfly populations of the northern rim of the Mediterranean Basin will undergo a noticeable fall in numbers in coming years due to the effects of climate change and human-driven changes in the landscape. This is one of the conclusions of a study published in the journal Ecography written by a team from the Granollers Museum of Natural History and the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF). This study analyzed 169 species of butterfly and took into account 15 variables in an attempt to measure and predict the adaptive responses by butterflies to changes in the habitats in which they live.
