MINERALS

Our collection of minerals is basically from the Plana de Vic and other parts of Catalonia.

The Plana de Vic is poor from a point of view of exploitable mineral seams. In the Vic area the main mineral outcrops that have been – or are still being – exploited are fluorite and barite minerals, and to a lesser extent, a number of copper minerals.

The most economically valuable mineral extracted from the Plana de Vic is gypsum, which is quarried in a number of sites in the western part of this county.

SEA

Animals and marines plants.

The fossils from the Plana de Vic correspond to the Eocene period (Tertiary Period) and are comparable to the plants and animals that live on Earth today.
